IMPLEMENTATION
PLAN
For a smooth,
efficient installation of Timberline Estimating, it is
important to develop a implementation plan as a roadmap to meet
the client's
estimating, bidding, buyout, scheduling and accounting needs. Some or all of the following steps
may be included:
Planning Meeting - Timberline accounting and estimating
consultants may be asked to attend a planning meeting with
company managers, estimators, project managers, and accountants to discuss
and create the implementation plan. To avoid misunderstanding and rework
of
the cost code system, the following
topics need to be addressed:
-
1) organizing
the database and estimate
-
2) setting up
estimating for bid day and buyout procedures
-
3) interfacing
job cost code structure with estimating

Database Development
- After the
roadmap is complete, the database development begins by:
-
1) identifying
needed modifications
-
2) updating
material, labor, and subcontractor prices
-
3) creating
markups and add-ons
-
4) installing
cost codes
Training -
It is recommended that training of Timberline Estimating users be
scheduled after the database development is basically complete
and the database is capable of meeting the company
estimating objectives.
If the
training is done too early, much of what is learned in the
training is forgotten before the database is ready to use.
